Hope Mill Theatre and Chris Harper Productions, in partnership with Lowry, have confirmed that High School Musical will extend its run in Salford due to phenomenal demand.
The immersive new production, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the much loved Disney movie, will now run from 22 August 2026 until 19 September 2026.
Tickets for the additional performances will go on sale at 10am on Thursday 12 March 2026.
Starring Tobias Turley, Leonor Correia, Caitlin Tipping and Luke Bayer as Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay and Ryan, the show will transform the Lyric Theatre into a dynamic basketball court environment with on stage seating and an extended stage.
Audiences will hear favourites including Breaking Free, We’re All In This Together, Get’cha Head in the Game and Stick to the Status Quo.
The musical features a book by David Simpatico, with music adapted, arranged and produced by Bryan Louiselle. It will be co directed by Joseph Houston and William Whelton, with further casting still to be announced.
Tobias Turley is best known for winning ITV’s MAMMA MIA! I Have A Dream, and his theatre credits include Jo: The Little Women Musical in Concert, Hot Mess, White Rose, Heathers the Musical and The Nutcracker.
Leonor Correia made her professional debut in SIX The Musical in the West End last year, making High School Musical her second major professional role.
Caitlin Tipping has previously starred as Jane Seymour in SIX The Musical across the West End, UK tour and Norwegian Cruise Lines. Her additional credits include Titanique, Disney’s Frozen the Musical, Musical Starnights and The Last Five Years.
Luke Bayer currently stars as Jack in the West End production of Titanique. His previous work includes Chicago, Head Over Heels, Millennials, RENT, Hair, Fiver, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Soho Cinders, Yank!, Gatsby and the 20th anniversary production of Les Misérables. Screen credits include Wicked: For Good and Ackley Bridge.
Based on the iconic Disney Channel Original Movie, the musical premiered in 2006 at Stagedoor Manor before touring the United States. It arrived in London in 2008 at the Hammersmith Apollo and has since enjoyed continued international popularity.
The 2026 Salford production brings together a creative team including choreographer Aaron Renfree, set designer Andrew Exeter, sound designer Matt Peploe, video designer George Reeve, lighting designer Rory Beaton, costume designer Sophia Pardon, musical supervisor Katy Richardson, musical director Audra Cramer, casting by Pearson Casting, production management by Ammonite Studios and general management by Chris Harper Productions.
