Jonathan Bailey and Ariana Grande will lead a new stage production of Stephen Sondheim’s celebrated musical Sunday in the Park with George, opening at the Barbican Centre in London in Summer 2027.

The musical, which features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Lapine, will be directed by Marianne Elliott with design by Tom Scutt.

Tickets for the Barbican season will go on sale in May 2026 and will be available exclusively via the official Barbican website and box office. Fans can sign up now at www.sundayintheparkmusical.com to be the first to receive updates and details.

Produced by Empire Street Productions and presented in association with the Barbican, Sunday in the Park with George remains one of Sondheim’s most iconic works, inspired by the painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” by Georges Seurat.

Further casting and creative team announcements will follow in due course.
