Pitlochry Festival Theatre and Blackpool Grand Theatre are set to electrify audiences with their new production of the iconic rock ‘n’ roll musical Grease. Running from 18 June until 27 September at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, this marks the first time Grease has been performed at the venue in its 74-year history.
Directed by Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s Associate Director Sam Hardie, this production features a talented ensemble of actor musicians. Hardie, known for his work on Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, brings his unique vision to the timeless story of teenage love and rebellion at Rydell High School.
The musical follows the whirlwind romance between new girl Sandy Dumbrowski and popular guy Danny Zuko, who find their summer love challenged by the pressures of teenage life. With iconic songs like Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin’, and You’re the One That I Want, this high-energy show promises a nostalgic journey full of rock ‘n’ roll flair.
Director Sam Hardie shared his excitement:
“Grease was the first musical I ever saw, and I still remember the feeling of seeing the film for the first time, with songs that made you just want to move and characters you longed to be! The musical is now over 50 years old and still its songs fill dance floors, karaoke rooms and play on radio stations across the world.”
The ensemble cast includes Celeste Collier as Teen Angel, Tyler Collins as Kenickie, Chris Coxon as Eugene, Stephanie Cremona as Cha Cha, Caitlin Forbes as Patty, April Nerissa Hudson as Frenchy, Leah Jamieson as Jan, Blythe Jandoo as Sandy, Jerome Lincoln as Roger, David Rankine as Doody, Oraine Johnson as Sonny, Keith Macpherson as Vince Fontaine, Alyson Orr as Miss Lynch, Alexander Service as Danny, Fiona Wood as Rizzo, and newcomers Eden Barrie as Marty and Louis Newman as Jonny Casino.
Hardie added:
“I cannot wait to work with this incredible company taking you to Rydell High for a summer full of joy, love and dancing!”
Grease runs at Pitlochry Festival Theatre from 18 June until 27 September. It will also run at Blackpool Grand Theatre from 4-14 June.
