Ride the Cyclone will return to Southwark Playhouse Elephant this summer following its record-breaking UK premiere run in 2025. Producers Kevin McCollum, Morris Berchard and Jack Maple have confirmed a 10‑week season from 19 June to 22 August 2026, after the show sold more tickets within 24 hours than any previous production at the venue.
Written by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell, the darkly comic musical follows six teenagers stranded in limbo after a roller-coaster accident. Each is given one final chance to argue for a return to life, delivering a fast-paced and unexpectedly moving 90 minutes of storytelling.
The creative team includes director and choreographer Lizzi Gee, musical director and supervisor Ben McQuigg, and set and costume designer Ryan Dawson Laight. Lighting is by Tim Deiling, video by Nina Dunn for PixelLux, sound by Tom Marshall and illusions by Richard Pinner. Casting is by Harry Blumenau, with associate direction by Eva Sampson, production management by Toby P Darvill for Production Solutions Group and general management by Jack Maple Productions.
Producers Kevin McCollum, Morris Berchard and Jack Maple said: “We couldn’t be more excited to bring Ride The Cyclone back for another ride. We were delighted that we sold out our initial run, and are thrilled to be returning to Southwark in 2026 to give those who missed out on tickets the first time around a chance to Ride The Cyclone”.
The musical premiered at Atomic Vaudeville in British Columbia in 2008 before opening in the United States at Chicago Shakespeare Theater in 2015 and Off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre the following year. Since then, it has played in Seattle, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Sydney and Buenos Aires.
