Al Seed Productions will return to Scottish stages this autumn with Thrice, a new theatrical work inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth, touring venues across Scotland from 16 to 24 October 2026.

Created following the success of Plinth, the production is described as a poetic response to Shakespeare’s tragedy, led by a nine-strong chorus of female performers.

Set in the aftermath of Macbeth, the performance begins in a world “steeped in fear; where truth and delusion blur, and tyranny thrives”, exploring what remains after violence and upheaval.

The production places nine women, arranged in three trios, at the centre of the story as they navigate the shadow left by the events of Shakespeare’s play. Through movement, dance, text and original music, Thrice examines ideas of survival, care and dignity.

The work reimagines the voices of the witches, transforming language once spoken by soldiers and tyrants and challenging the long-standing persecution associated with the word “witch”.

Presented by Al Seed Productions, Thrice is directed by Al Seed and Judith Milligan, with choreography by Lina Limosani. The production brings together a creative team spanning Scotland, France and Australia.

Al Seed, known for works including Plinth and Oog, has built a reputation for creating visually striking and physically driven theatre. He reunites with long-time collaborator Judith Milligan, while acclaimed choreographer Lina Limosani brings her extensive international dance experience to the project.

The cast features Alys Williams, Ashley Smith, Jennifer Steele, Jessie Roberts-Smith, Maya Bodiley, Monet Debois, Samuela Noumtchuet, Sarah Farrell and Tess Letham.

The tour opens at Tramway in Glasgow on 16 and 17 October before travelling to Aberdeen’s Anatomy Rooms on 19 October, Dundee Rep on 21 October, and concluding at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh on 23 and 24 October.
