Al Seed Productions will tour Scotland this autumn with Thrice, a new large-scale performance piece inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth, visiting Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh between 16 and 24 October 2026.

Created by Scottish theatre-maker Al Seed alongside Paris-based director Judith Milligan and Australian choreographer Lina Limosani, Thrice follows the company’s acclaimed production Plinth and is led by a nine-strong tragic chorus of female performers.

Set in the aftermath of Shakespeare’s tragedy, Thrice begins where Macbeth ends. With Macbeth dead and a nation left scarred by violence and tyranny, the production explores what it means to survive in the shadow of destruction.

The work places nine women, arranged in three trios, at the centre of the story. Drawing on the voices of those who have traditionally occupied the margins of the play, particularly the witches, Thrice reimagines themes of power, persecution and renewal through movement, text and music.

The production takes its title from one of the witches’ most famous lines from Shakespeare’s play: “Thrice to thine, and thrice to mine, And thrice again, to make up nine.”

Presented as a visual and sonic journey, Thrice combines dance, theatre, original music and choral performance in what the company describes as a ritual experience.

Al Seed, known for creating visually striking and physically driven work, directs the production alongside long-time collaborator Judith Milligan. Choreography is by Lina Limosani, whose previous collaboration with the company, The Spinners, received a Total Theatre Award nomination.

The cast features Alys Williams, Ashley Smith, Jennifer Steele, Jessie Roberts-Smith, Maya Bodiley, Monet Debois, Samuela Noumtchuet, Sarah Farrell and Tess Letham.

The creative team also includes Creative Producer Siobhan Clark, Music and Sound Designer Guy Veale, Lighting Designer Alberto Santos Bellido and Costume Designer Zephyr Liddell.

Thrice opens at Glasgow’s Tramway on 16 and 17 October before travelling to Aberdeen’s Anatomy Rooms on 19 October as part of DanceLive, Dundee Rep on 21 October, and the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh on 23 and 24 October.
