The Chichester Festival Theatre production of Top Hat has announced its cast for the 2025 UK tour, opening 18 September at New Victoria Theatre, Woking.
Reprising his role as Jerry Travers is Phillip Attmore, making his UK debut. He is joined by Amara Okereke as Dale Tremont, with Sally Ann Triplett continuing as Madge Hardwick and James Hume as Horace Hardwick.
Also returning from the Chichester run are James Clyde as Bates and Alex Gibson-Giorgio as Alberto Beddini. Further casting for the 2026 UK and Ireland tour dates will be announced in due course.
Phillip Attmore is “one of Broadway’s most exciting performers,” having won the Fred and Adele Astaire Award for Shuffle Along and the Playbill Breakout Performance Award for On the 20th Century. His credits include Hello, Dolly!, Cheek to Cheek: Irving Berlin in Hollywood, and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.
Amara Okereke won the 2018 Stage Debut Award for her role as Cosette in Les Misérables. Her theatre credits include My Fair Lady, Oklahoma!, A Streetcar Named Desire, and Spring Awakening. She will also appear in the upcoming film The Choral, directed by Sir Nicholas Hytner.
James Hume’s credits include Kiss Me Kate, A Christmas Carol, and The Phantom of the Opera. He is a recipient of the Toni Fell Competition and Hilda Deane Award for Outstanding Achievement.
Sally Ann Triplett’s recent roles include Fraulein Schneider in Cabaret, Gran in The Witches, and Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes, for which she won a WhatsOnStage Award.
James Clyde has performed extensively with the Royal Shakespeare Company and played Mr. Wormwood in Matilda the Musical.
Alex Gibson-Giorgio’s credits include Sinatra The Musical, Zorro The Musical, Rags, and Mamma Mia! Australia Tour. His TV appearances include One Day (Netflix) and Time Bandits (Apple TV+).
The ensemble includes Lindsay Atherton, Rhiannon Bacchus, Jeremy Batt, Freddie Clements, Pedro Donoso, Bethan Downing, Autumn Draper, Tilly Ducker, Maddie Harper, Stuart Hickey, Laura Hills, Connor Hughes, George Lyons, David McIntosh, Jordan Oliver, Emily Anne Potter, Joe Press, Molly Rees Howe, Kirsty Sparks, and Toyan Thomas-Browne.
Top Hat is currently playing at Chichester Festival Theatre until 6 September. The tour begins in Woking and continues to Milton Keynes, Edinburgh, Nottingham, Wimbledon, Canterbury, Liverpool, Cardiff, Sunderland, Manchester, and London’s South Bank Centre for a five-week Christmas season.
In 2026, the tour resumes in Sheffield, Dublin, Glasgow, Eastbourne, Southend, Birmingham, Aberdeen, Norwich, Salford, and Southampton.
Based on the 1935 film starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Top Hat won the 2013 Olivier Award for Best New Musical and the Evening Standard Award for Best Night Out.
Directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, the production features music and lyrics by Irving Berlin and a book by Matthew White and Howard Jacques. The creative team includes Peter McKintosh (Set and Costume Design), Gareth Valentine (Musical Supervisor), Stephen Ridley (Musical Director), Chris Walker (Orchestrator & Arranger), Tim Mitchell (Lighting Design), Paul Groothuis (Sound Design), and Natalie Gallacher CDG (Casting).
Kathleen Marshall is a three-time Tony Award winner and the first woman to direct a play, direct a musical, and choreograph a musical on Broadway.
