Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) has enjoyed a standout showing at the 79th Annual Tony Awards, receiving eight nominations and placing the musical among the most recognised productions of the Broadway season.

The nominations were announced today in New York as part of the annual celebration of excellence in Broadway theatre.

This year’s Tony Awards nominations highlight a season marked by new musicals, high-profile revivals and strong representation across acting, creative and technical categories.

       

Several productions received multiple nominations, reflecting a competitive year that spans new writing, bold directing and innovative design.

Alongside recognition for Best Musical contenders, performers across leading and featured categories have been acknowledged for work in both plays and musicals.

The awards continue to underline Broadway’s international reach, with British artists and productions featuring prominently among the nominees.

The winners of the 79th Annual Tony Awards will be announced at a ceremony at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
