A new podcast series has been released offering a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of Clarkston, currently running at Trafalgar Theatre until 22 November.
Titled Clarkston: The Making of a West End Show, the three-part podcast is produced and presented by Ngofeen Mputubwele and follows the final 72 hours before the show’s first preview.
Listeners can expect candid interviews with the cast, creatives, and producers, capturing the emotional and technical journey of bringing a new production to the West End.
Episode one explores rehearsals and tech, episode two delves into the acting and writing process, and episode three focuses on the first preview, featuring insights from the entire creative team.
Ngofeen Mputubwele, founder of The N Isn’t Silent Productions, said: “I create fantasy-laden audio documentaries about real life.” His podcast work has been featured by The New Yorker, WIRED, and Human Rights Watch, and has appeared on The New York Times’ Top 10 Podcasts and The Atlantic’s Best 50 Podcasts.
Clarkston is written by Samuel D. Hunter, known for The Whale, and stars Joe Locke (Heartstopper, Agatha All Along), Ruaridh Mollica (Sebastian, The Franchise), and Sophie Melville (The Way, Iphigenia in Splott). The production is directed by Jack Serio.
The producers have also announced a series of special events and workshops in partnership with ATG Entertainment West End Creative Learning, including post-show Q&As hosted by Tia Kofi and Mason Alexander Park.
These events are part of Creative Careers Month and offer audiences and aspiring theatre-makers the opportunity to engage directly with professionals shaping the industry.
Clarkston is a modern frontier story exploring friendship, acceptance, and the hope of new discoveries. It follows Jake, who meets Chris during a night shift at a rural Costco, and together they embark on a journey of self-discovery.
