Marking the 20th anniversary of Dante or Die, the company’s acclaimed immersive production I Do will return in 2026 for a brand-new UK tour. Reimagined for a new decade, the show opens at Malmaison London on 20 January as part of the Barbican’s Scene Change season before touring to sister hotels in Reading and Manchester.
Set in a working hotel, I Do invites audiences to step inside six rooms where the final moments before a wedding unfold in parallel. Each space reveals a different perspective on the same tense moment in time, from a best man’s speech collapsing under pressure to family secrets rippling through the corridors.
Audiences move in small groups between rooms, uncovering fragments of a tangled family story as they become voyeurs to intimate, overlapping narratives. From old flames to hidden pregnancy tests, every glance and whispered secret counts.
Created and conceived by Daphna Attias and Terry O’Donovan, with text by Chloë Moss, I Do is described as “a celebration of the beautiful mess of human connection — an intricate portrait of love and fear, told through Dante or Die’s signature blend of intimacy, detail, and cinematic theatricality.”
The production runs for 90 minutes with no interval and carries an age guidance of 14+. Full casting will be announced soon.
I Do is presented in partnership with the Barbican, South Street Reading and Lowry, with lead sponsorship from Malmaison Hotels. The production is generously supported by Arts Council England and the International Music & Art Foundation.
