Kate Horton Productions and Landmark Productions have unveiled a first look at production images for the revival of Conor McPherson’s The Weir, which will be directed by McPherson himself for the first time.

Starring Brendan Gleeson in his West End debut as Jack, The Weir will run at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 12 September to 6 December 2025, following its initial engagement at Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre from 8 August to 6 September.

Joining Gleeson are Owen McDonnell as Brendan, Seán McGinley as Jim, Kate Phillips as Valerie, and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor as Finbar.

The newly released images offer a glimpse into the atmospheric world of rural Ireland, where the play is set. On a stormy night, four men gather in a pub and share ghostly tales to impress a newcomer, Valerie. Her own story, however, proves to be the most haunting of all.

Conor McPherson said, “I couldn’t be happier to be working with this brilliant cast. It’s always exciting embarking on a new production but to revisit The Weir in the company of these particularly accomplished artists feels like a singular privilege and I look forward to sharing this story with audiences in Dublin and London very soon.”

The creative team includes Rae Smith (set and costume design), Mark Henderson (lighting design), Gregory Clarke (sound design), and Amy Ball CDG (casting director).

The Weir is a celebrated modern classic, winner of the Olivier Award for Best New Play, and a testament to the power of storytelling and human connection.
