World-renowned West End and Broadway actress Kerry Ellis has been announced as the next guest on The Show People Podcast.

The live podcast recording will take place on Wednesday 13 May at 7.30pm at The Two Brewers in Clapham, hosted by award-winning director and Queer Theatre Artistic Director Andrew Keates.

Presented live from Queer Theatre, The Show People Podcast offers an intimate conversation with leading figures from the performing arts, exploring their careers, creative journeys and experiences within the industry.

Kerry Ellis is one of the most celebrated performers in British musical theatre, having originated the role of Meat in Queen’s We Will Rock You and becoming the first British actress to play Elphaba in Wicked, later reprising the role on Broadway.

Her extensive stage credits also include Cats, Oliver!, My Fair Lady and Les Misérables, alongside a successful recording career with Decca Records and Sony Music.

She has toured extensively with Sir Brian May and released the album Golden Days, and most recently appeared as Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians and performed If/Then at the Savoy Theatre in 2025.

Andrew Keates said: “To sit opposite such titans of the performing arts each month is one of the great privileges of my life. From Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Stephen Fry to Jack Holden, Pearl Mackie, Marina Sirtis and now Kerry Ellis, these are performers who have left indelible marks on audiences all around the world. What I value most is when these conversations move beyond tried and tested anecdotes and into honest, vulnerable accounts of life in the performing arts, including the struggles, sacrifices and lessons learned along the way.

“It will be a huge privilege to welcome Kerry Ellis to The Show People Podcast. I know she wants to share some things she has not spoken about publicly before, and I cannot wait to hear more about her remarkable life and career, which has so often defied gravity.”

Each episode of The Show People Podcast is recorded live in front of an audience and includes an interval, with ticket holders also receiving complimentary access to the venue’s cabaret and DJ event after the recording.

All profits from the event support Queer Theatre’s wide-ranging programme, including acting classes, showcases, play readings, social events and the development of new work for LGBTQIA+ artists.
