Producers Curve, Bristol Old Vic and Mayflower Southampton have announced that Layton Williams and George Blagden will star in the upcoming revival of Kiss of the Spider Woman, directed by Paul Foster.

Layton Williams will play Molina. Williams made his West End debut at age 12 in Billy Elliot the Musical and recently won the Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for Titanique. His TV credits include Beautiful People, The Cleaner, I Hate Suzie, Benidorm and Bad Education. He’ll soon appear in People We Meet on Vacation and Geek Girl on Netflix.

George Blagden will play Valentin. Blagden is known for his roles in Versailles and Vikings, as well as appearances in Les Misérables, Black Mirror and Wrath of the Titans. His stage credits include Company, Tartuffe, White Christmas and The Pitchfork Disney.

They join the previously announced Anna-Jane Casey as Aurora, the Spider Woman of Molina’s fantasies. Casey’s recent credits include Cabaret, Mother Goose and Girl From the North Country.

This co-production marks the first major UK revival of Kiss of the Spider Woman since 1992. The musical will run at Curve’s Studio Theatre from 3 to 25 April 2026, Bristol Old Vic from 29 April to 16 May, and Mayflower Studios from 2 to 6 June.

Based on the novel by Manuel Puig and adapted by Terrence McNally, the original Broadway production won seven Tony Awards including Best Musical. A new film adaptation starring Jennifer Lopez is also on the horizon.

Obsession or salvation? One kiss from the Spider Woman can change everything.

In a brutal prison, Molina – condemned for his sexuality – and Valentin – a political prisoner – form an unlikely bond. Molina escapes through fantasies of glamorous movies and the seductive Spider Woman. As reality and fiction blur, their connection deepens, with life-altering consequences.

The creative team includes choreographer Joanna Goodwin, set designer David Woodhead, costume designer Gabriella Slade, orchestrator Sarah Travis, lighting designer Howard Hudson, sound designer Matt Peploe and casting director Stuart Burt CDG. Further casting will be announced soon.

Musicians for this Made at Curve production are sponsored by music licensing company PPL.
