Myra’s Story will return to the West End next month for a strictly limited run at Trafalgar Theatre, with four performances on 12 and 19 April at 2pm and 6pm.
Written and directed by Brian Foster, the one-woman play stars IFTA nominee Fíonna Hewitt-Twamley, who portrays Myra and 15 other characters in a raw and affecting story inspired by real experiences of homelessness.
The play follows Myra as she wakes in a shelter before heading back to the streets in search of the alcohol she calls her “medicine”. As she recounts her past, audiences are taken through first love, family, friendship and devastating loss, gradually revealing how an ordinary life spirals into homelessness.
Though fictional, Myra’s Story offers an unflinching look at addiction, vulnerability and survival, challenging audiences to recognise the humanity behind the statistics and stereotypes that surround homelessness.
Producer Amber Allen said: “This is a story that should resonate with everyone. Myra’s life is shaped by a series of small moments—things that could happen to any of us. It’s a reminder that the people we see on the street are not invisible; they are human beings with stories, histories, and voices that deserve to be heard.”
The production partners with The Connection at St Martin’s, a London charity dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness, in support of the play’s mission.
Presented by Trafalgar Theatre Productions, the show blends humour, heartbreak and vivid Irish storytelling. While it tackles difficult themes including addiction, miscarriage and loss, it also finds warmth, levity and resilience in Myra’s personal narrative.
Performances will run alongside Oh, Mary! on the Trafalgar Theatre stage.
