Neon Dance will present Last and First Men at The Coronet Theatre from 26 to 28 February 2026, following its acclaimed UK premiere at Bristol Beacon and international appearances at CTM Festival in Berlin and Rising Festival in Melbourne.

This cross-disciplinary performance combines contemporary dance, live music and 16mm film to create a speculative journey two billion years into the future. Narrated by Tilda Swinton, the work draws on Jóhann Jóhannsson’s dystopian film and score, completed by Yair Elazar Glotman after the composer’s death in 2018.

Choreographer Adrienne Hart said, “It feels like we’re getting fewer and fewer chances to sit and contemplate the world around us. This is a work for that. We hope it offers some discomfort and some solace.”

Costume and prop designer Ana Rajcevic added, “The performance unfolds against Johann Jóhannsson’s haunting 16mm black-and-white film, featuring monumental stone sculptures — called the ‘Spomenik’ — built during the communist era in the former Yugoslavia, where I was born. This very personal connection made the project even more meaningful for me.”

The creative team includes Adrienne Hart (direction and choreography), Jóhann Jóhannsson and Yair Elazar Glotman (music), Nico De Rooij (lighting), Mikio Sakabe and Ana Rajcevic (costume design), and Rick Vincent Will (technical management).
