Casting has been revealed for work in progress performances of Babyface – The Fierce Wrestling Musical, written by Seiriol Davies.

The musical will be presented at Storyhouse, Chester on Wednesday 11 February 2026 as part of Storyhouse Queer festival, with a newly announced performance at Pleasance, London on Friday 13 February 2026.

The cast includes James Ifan, Rex Hayes, Genesis Lynea and Iestyn Arwel. They are joined by musical theatre performers Cadi Mullane, Nic Myers and Elis Myers-Sleight, as well as professional wrestlers Nightshade, KM Lane, Cassius The Neon Explosion and Darcy Stone.

Babyface tells the story of two queer friends from Rhyl who attempt to rise through the world of professional wrestling, where crafting an unforgettable persona is key. Gruff dreams of being a poet but must take on the legacy of his late grandad, legendary wrestler Rhyl Dryll, while helping his Nanna Dela stay afloat. Rezi aims to become the first female wrestling world champion, even if the journey tests their friendship.

Blending musical theatre and pro wrestling, complete with live ring action, the show explores identity, ambition and community in a high energy setting.

The musical has been in development for three years and was previously showcased at BEAM2025 in Birmingham. Producer Jafar Iqbal has now partnered with PW Productions to develop the work further. Davies’ previous show How to Win Against History received critical acclaim and multiple five star reviews.

Directed by Debbie Hannan and Matthew Holmquist, the creative team also includes Geraint Owen as musical supervisor and arranger, Sioned Evans as musical director, Ed Gamester as wrestling choreographer and Harry Blumenau as casting director.
