"It's a fantastic sequence of haphazardly associative imagery, as seen in dreams or fever, mixed with a "dazzling" spectacle of good intentions and low-impact movement"

The Dina Martina Christmas Show

The Dina Martina Christmas Show

Dina Martina will bring her famed holiday train wreck of a show to Soho Theatre for the first time since Martina began the tradition at Seattle’s Re-bar over twenty years ago.

In this hysterically funny show, Martina blends a truly wondrous mix of questionable song, unnecessary dance, overburdened costumes, and side-splitting video to create your newest treasured holiday tradition.

Since 1989, Dina Martina has packed venues throughout the US and Canada, and has performed six successful runs at Soho Theatre. Martina has shared the bill with Margaret Cho, Alan Cumming, Justin Vivian Bond and Bridget Everett.

The Dina Martina Christmas Show is at Soho Theatre Tuesday 14 – Thursday 30 December at 9.15pm.

You’re bringing The Dina Martina Christmas Show to Soho Theatre, what can you tell us about the show?

It’s a fantastic sequence of haphazardly associative imagery, as seen in dreams or fever, mixed with a “dazzling” spectacle of good intentions and low-impact movement.

The show started in Seattle over 20 years ago, what first inspired you to create it?

The baby Jesus, asleep in the Hague.

And why do you think now is the right time to bring it to London?

The World Doomsday Clock says we’ve only got 100 seconds left, so it’s kinda now or never.

Have you made any changes to the show for London audiences?

Yes, I took the elephants out.

We know you sing plenty of songs in the show, do you have a favourite?

Oh please don’t ask me to choose one favourite over the others. I can’t. I just really can’t. Did you ever see Sophie’s Choice? Well it’s like that, only with songs.

What would you say to anyone thinking of booking tickets to see The Dina Martina Christmas Show?

Merry Christmas and Caveat Emptor!
